Well, this was totally awesome. I went into The Novice with modest expectations. Recently I found myself disappointed with the YA High Fantasy genre and never really felt satisfied especially when it comes to the world building which always felt lacklustre. Not so with this one.

Cons: Size: Something not immediately apparent in the product description is the overall thickness of the installed radiator. The end user will need to make sure there is enough space in their case for the radiator + fan = 27mm + 25mm = 52mm, at the minimum, between the top of the case and the motherboard. Otherwise, there may be some fit-up issues. Installation Instructions: The instructions show to install the radiator last, which is something I couldn’t do due to the proximity of the radiator with my motherboard.

At the beginning of the book I had the reoccurring website thought that at times it felt like a curious mix between Pokfoimon and Harry Potter with a bit of Lord of the Rings mixed in for good measure and in a YA setting. But even if either one isn’t for you, don’t be discouraged. The book also had its very own charm with a sometimes naïve but absolutely lovable main character in Fletcher.
